Place Bids

Bidding and buying is open to all active Copart Finland Members. All bids are final.

Preliminary Bidding

Copart Members can place preliminary bids, or pre-bids, prior to and during the live auction, as late as two minutes or two units before the vehicle appears on the block. When you pre-bid, you place bid on the lot prior to the live sale. Your pre-bid will be represented during the live auction and could be the winning bid if no other bidder submits a higher bid during either the pre-bid phase or the live auction. Your pre-bid is your Maximum Bid on the vehicle.

Increment bidding and pre-bids

Note that when there is a tie between pre-bid and live bid, the live bidder prevails as the highest bidder on the item. Increment bidding allows Copart to increase your entered pre-bid by one and only one increment if the bid is facing a tie with the live bidder. Increment checkbox must be selected when making the pre-bid.

Mistyped pre-bid

If you entered the wrong amount when placing a pre-bid, you have the option to correct it. Enter your new bid in the same field as the original bid. You can correct your bid, but you cannot delete it entirely. You can lower your bid down to the lowest winning bid as long as no other bidder has placed a higher bid in the meantime.

Example: The current highest bid for the lot is 100 euros; you enter 2000 euros as your pre-bid, even though you intended to bid 200 euros. The auto-bidder automatically bids 125 euros on your behalf, so you can only adjust your bid up to that amount. If another member bids, for example, 500 euros in the meantime, the auto-bidder will bid 525 euros on your behalf, at which point you can adjust your bid up to that amount.

Live Bidding

In a live-auction, lots are auctioned in order according to their item number. Before the lot you want is on the auction block, you can pre-bid until your item is either two minutes or two vehicles away from the auction queue.

When it's lots bidding turn in the live online auction, it will be placed in the main view of the auction and members can start to bid on it. Bidders have 10 seconds to bid on the lot, and every bid restarts the 10-second-bidding-time. This continues until there are no more bids within 10 seconds, the sale ends and auction continues with the next lot. Choose Bid to increase the highest bid by one increment. This will turn the auction frames green, letting you know you have the winning bid. If someone else raises your winning bid, the frames turn red and you are no longer the winning bidder. If you have not bid on the item, the frames will remain blue.

Bid on your computer or mobile device by selecting the automatic increment option or choosing your own bid amount by using + and - buttons (Monster Bid). Alternatively, you can select BID4U and the system will increase the bid by one increment against other bidders up to the amount you selected. Compete against other Members to become the highest bidder, and if your bid is still the highest after 10 seconds, you win the sale of the vehicle.

Increments / minimum bids

The size of increment is determined by the current highest bid. For example, the current highest bid for an item is 175€ , so one increment is minimum 25 € until highest bid reaches 1000 €.

Buying Power

If you already have a Copart Membership and want to bid on lots worth more than 300 000 € or more than 30 lots at a time, please contact Copart Customer Service to increase your buying power. Buying power is reached in the following cases, for example:

Example 1: You bid on a lot worth 300 000 €. To bid more, Customer Service must increase your buying power.

Example 2: You bid on a lot A worth 200 000 €, a lot B worth 50 000 €, a lot C worth 30 000 €, and a lot D worth 20 000 €. To bid more, Customer Service must increase your buying power.

Example 3: You bid on 30 lots at a time. To bid more, Customer Service must increase your buying power.

Buy it Now

Buy it Now allows you to purchase the vehicle immediately at a set price before the lot goes to live auction. Upon clicking the button you will be taken to a confirmation page to confirm your Buy it Now offer. Once confirmed you will be directed to pay for the vehicle.
