After Auction

How to Buy Vehicles From Copart

Paying for and picking up your vehicles are important steps in the buying process. For a smooth transaction, review the information on this page before winning your first vehicle.

After auction

After you have won the vehicle, you will receive an confirmation email and instructions for payment. You will find the lots you have won in your Memberportal by choosing Bid Status and Lots Won. If the lot has had Minimum Bid which hasn't been met or the lot is sold with On approval status you will be notified within two days after auction if the highest bid has been approved or not. Go to Bid Status and My Bids to see the lots. Read more about lots' Sale status.

Copart Finland’s prices include taxes. Lots’ tax rates are indicated on the sales information. Fees are always added to lot's price. To get a detailed overview of all fees, like Registration fee / Green papers fee, Buyer fee and Virtual bid fee, please see our Member Fees and Pricelist.

How to Pay

On Copart.fi you can pay the lot(s) and additional fees straight from your Member Portal. You can easily find your payments due and payment history on your Dashboard or by going to Payments and Payments Due. Copart Finland offers convenient payment options:

  • Online card payment, mobile payment or bank transfer through your Copart account (money transfer can take up to 5 minutes)

  • Mobile Payment

  • Buy now, Pay later services

  • Bank Transfer separately through your online bank (money transfer can take up to 2-4 days)

  • Card Payment at yard (Copart Locations)

Due date of invoices is two business days after the invoice is created. Please note, that lot can only be picked up once all the payments related to the lot are paid and visible at Copart Suomi Oy. Please see our Member Fees and Pricelist for more details.

Late payment fee and Relist fee

Due date of invoices is two business days after the invoice is created. If the payment is not completed at the due date, buyer will receive a late payment fee in the Member Portal according to the fee table. If Copart Suomi Oy didn’t receive the full payment in seven calendar days, the lot will be relisted automatically, and the buyer pays the relist fee according to the fee table.

Collecting vehicles

After all the payments are done the buyer receives a receipt and Gatepass document which entitles the buyer to collect the lot within five business days after winning the lot (invoice creation).

The vehicle can only be picked up if accompanied by the printed Gatepass and proof of identity such as driving license or passport. If you arrange for someone else to pick up the vehicle, that person will need the authority from you, as well as the printed Gatepass. You can authorize the third party for collection with the Gatepass. The lot must be collected in five business days after winning the lot (invoice creation). After this Late Removal fee is charged for every day according to the fee table. The buyer will receive a new Gatepass after the Late Removal fee is paid in Member Portal or in Copart facility.

Vehicles can be collected on business days as per Copart location's opening hours. Please note, that vehicles do not have fuel for safety reasons.

Registration and papers

Green papers (Registration documents): A foreign buyer who doesn`t have a Finnish social security number or business ID needs the original registration documents that are signed by the seller and filled with buyer data. Green papers are needed when registering the vehicle abroad. The documents are handed over from Pirkkala, Espoo, Oulu and Turku during vehicle collection, if documents are available. If green papers are not available during the collection, or if the vehicle is collected from elsewhere, such as Copart sublots, the documents will be posted as a registered letter.

Deed of transfer: This document will follow each and every damaged vehicle or item. Domestic customers will receive the deed of transfer by e-mail in 1-2 weeks after the item has been handed over. Foreign customers will receive a printed version. Domestic customers need the document during registration inspection. Foreign customers need the document when crossing the border and during vehicle registration. If the product is collected outside Pirkkala, Espoo, Oulu or Turku, the deed of transfer will be sent to domestic buyer by e-mail. For watercraft and outboard engines, original deed of transfer documents will be posted to the buyer. The buyer needs the original documents by signed.

Watercraft registration certificate: This document follows every registered watercraft and is needed to transfer the ownership at vehicle inspection station. The document is handed over from Pirkkala, Espoo or Oulu during the vehicle collection. If the product is collected outside Pirkkala, Espoo, Oulu or Turku, the certificate will be sent by e-mail. Sail or motorboats, that are over 5,5 meters long or designed to have an engine with output of over 20 hp, need to be registered. Registration responsibility concerns all motorized watercrafts, such as jet skis. The exception is Copart sublots, in which case the watercraft registration certificate will be posted to the customer together with the deed of transfer.

Sales certificate: This document follows every vehicle that is not deregistered due to damage (e.g., products sold under a used vehicle sale condition). Sales certificate is considered as a contract of sale. Domestic customers will receive the certificate by e-mail immediately after vehicle collection, when a change of ownership has been done with the vehicle only decommissioned. Foreign customers will receive a printed version during the collection. As an exception, to a foreign buyer the documents will be posted as a registered letter if the vehicle is collected from elsewhere, such as Copart sublots.

Certificate of destruction: Given only to customer who brought vehicle to us for destruction on demand (e.g., if a customer needs the certificate for AKL & Traficom vehicle destruction fee campaign). Otherwise, after deregistration, the certificate will be forwarded to Traficom only.

Document re-delivery: If you need the vehicle documents re-delivered (deed of transfer and photos), you can contact our Member services. If more than 12 months have passed since the delivery of the vehicle, we will charge for the order according to the pricelist.
